Tyn Dwr Hall Wedding Photography – Vicky & Matt – Part 2

bride and groom holding hands

This was a slightly different day for me compared to a normal wedding.  I had two jobs to do…  The first was to document Matt & Vicky’s day renewing the wedding vows.  The second was to capture as much of their brand new wedding venue as possible, along with detail shots for the other suppliers involved.  That’s why I’ve split this into two blog posts, the first concentrates on the venue and the details of the day, this one focusses on the vow renewal.  If you’re not aware of the back ground info, check out part one – but make sure you come straight back, ok?

I arrived at Tyn Dwr Hall and was greeted warmly by Matt, I bumped into Vicky on my way to the house, in her PJ’s and on a mission – both were busy coordinating and organising the last minute jobs.  It was hustle and bustle everywhere…  But Tyn Dwr Hall was almost ready!

Jades Hair & Beauty had just started on the Bridesmaids hair in the bridal preparation suit, so I got straight to work.  Their ceremony wasn’t until 2:30pm, but with 10 Bridesmaids and a Bride there was plenty to do.  Vicky was in and out all morning, between getting her hair & makeup done and organising everything else she was being pulled in all directions, but didn’t stop smiling once!  Vicky specifically wanted photos of the boys getting ready so once I tracked Matt down I got some photos of them getting dressed and going for a walk “around the perimeter” too.  It was then back over to the house for Vicky’s dress going on and her Dad’s first look.  I absolutely love ‘first looks’ of all varieties, whether it’s a Dad’s first look, Bridesmaids first look or even a Groom’s first look (a little American I know, but ideal for nervous or more private couple).  You only have to look at the photos to see why I love them – there’s so much uncontrollable, natural, real emotion.

We then headed down the stairs to the ceremony room…  It was a really lovely ceremony, less formal than a marriage but still had all the important elements.  My favourite moments were when Alistair (their youngest child and one of Matt’s Best Men) waved at Matilda (Vicky’s flower girl) coming down the aisle.  Another was when the registrar asked Matt & Vicky to join hands, and their two boys (Charlie & Alistair) automatically held hands with both their Mum & Dad – so cute!  After the ceremony it was time for reception drinks & canapés, these were served at the front of the house – making use of all 3 reception rooms and the beautiful views over looking the valley.  We then made our way round to the terrace for a few group shots before heading into the garden room for the wedding breakfast.  I was treated to a delicious meal, wild mushroom risotto & the most amazingly tender lamb shank.   After the meal Matt made a lovely speech, acknowledging and thanking everyone involved in all aspects of the Tyn Dwr restoration.

After cutting their cake, it wasn’t long before Matt & Vicky were on the dance floor.  Their first dance, although only decided minutes before they actually performed it, was epic!  Soon everyone was on the dance floor partying the night away. If I didn’t already know that this was the first ‘wedding’ at Tyn Dwr Hall I wouldn’t have been able to tell.  I had an absolute ball photographing Matt & Vicky’s vow renewal, they’re a perfect couple and have created a stunning wedding venue.  I wish them every success in the future, both with their marriage and Tyn Dwr Hall.  Here’s my favourite moments from their day…  Please feel free to follow this link to see all blog posts relating to Tyn Dwr Hall
