If you missed part one, you can catch up here.
Surrounded by tall trees, the church is beautiful, intimate and surprisingly bright. It’s conveniently placed just a short walk through the woods at the bottom of Trevor Hall’s drive way. Which is handy as there was a mix up with the rings, and Jon’s got left back at Trevor Hall! So, in the middle of the service there was a mad dash back to the house! The Vicar didn’t skip a beat though, he quickly suggested we sang one of the songs planned for later in the service while we waited for the ring. That song was “12 Days Of Christmas”. I’m sure you’re all aware that the fifth verse of that song is the “five gold rings” verse! And I’m sure you can imagine, all their guests sang this with added emphasis! Luckily it was all taken in good spirits by the Vicar, Bride, Groom and all their friends and family.
The service continued as planned after that. It was then back to the house for mulled wine and canapés while the brass band played Christmas Carols. The catering staff were excellent especially considering Trevor Hall was at maximum capacity (maybe even a little over)! During the wedding breakfast, I found a quiet spot near the bar and was treated to two of my favourite foods – lamb & dauphinoise potatoes!
Once the tables were clear, it was time for the speeches. This is always a highlight for me. I get to hear some funny stories, embarrassing moments and touching compliments. The speeches at Kirsty & Jon’s wedding however, were something else.
The Best Man made an excellent speech, Jon made an awesome speech including a custom-made video. He somehow managed to get their friends to agree to being filmed, in costumes, singing to one of Kirsty’s favourite songs – Power Of Love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. He then seamlessly edited it all together and played it on a projector for all to see. It was pretty special.
It’s unusual for the Bride to make a speech, but if I was to give prizes for speeches, Kirsty would definitely be a winner. Kirsty read over exaggerated (although based on true events) entries from Jon’s “diary” and had everyone in stitches! And I mean everyone! Jon did his best to hide on the stairs, but couldn’t escape the onslaught. I’m super chuffed I managed to capture his reactions because they make for some of my favourite photos of the day.
Once everyone had calmed down, it was time for a quick turn around of the room, ready for the band to set up. Part three coming soon…
