A Beautiful Garden Ceremony // Caernarfon Wedding Photographer

I’ve already written about Ffion & Graeme’s wedding day in a previous post (part 1 & part 2).  But their ceremony was so beautiful that I just had to show you some more photographs.

Here’s a little bit of background info if you missed the original post.  Ffi & G live in Australia, and had a small wedding over there.  They wanted to have another ceremony in Ffi’s home town of Caeathro, near Caernarfon and chose to have it in Ffi’s Dad’s back garden. Graeme found me online, and although we had a few Skype chats we hadn’t met before the morning of their wedding.  Everyone was super nice, very relaxed and made me feel right at home from the minute I arrived – I got offered a bacon sandwich more than once!

The day started like every other day in Wales, with the threat of rain.  But luck was on our side and instead of rain we had beautiful sunshine just about all day.  My lucky umbrellas worked again!

I’ve been trying to work out why this ceremony has stuck with me as much as it has.  I think it’s down to the personal nature and intimate atmosphere of the day.

They said their vows under a tree in Ffi’s Father’s back garden.  The fact that Ffi lives on the other side of the globe makes this even more significant.  Every time he walks around the side of his house, or looks out at that tree he will be reminded of the day his daughter got married – and I love that.

As they had taken care of the legal side of things back in Oz they had a lot more freedom with their ceremony, so they could really say what they wanted to say.  There were stories about how they met and they both shared what they love about each other…  Qualities of their personalities, their little quirks, and the first thing they noticed about each other.  It was so obvious that they were head over heels in love and absolutely perfect for each other.

The fact they were already technically married helped to relieve quite a few of the wedding day nerves, but there was still so much emotion in the air. They were literally surrounded by the people they love most, their friends & family.  What really helped draw everyone into the ceremony and create such an amazing atmosphere were the straw bales huddled around the tree where they would say their vows.  This also made it an absolute joy to photograph.

The other thing that made their ceremony so special was the small number of guests.  Along with adding to the sense of intimacy, it allowed Ffi & G to relax, be themselves, and let their personalities shine through…

My candid style of photography enables me to capture the real moments of your day, without the awkwardness of posed photographs.   By having this relaxed approach, your wedding photos will always be uniquely yours.  I try not to impart my personality on your day – I just document it.  There’s no duplication of poses, it’s all about you and capturing your personalities.  That’s why I love weddings that differ from the norm – they work so well with my natural photography style.
