Peckforton Castle Wedding Photography – Lora & Dave

Lora & Dave got married at Peckforton Castle, with a String Quartet, Magician and Live Band!  Here’s their story…

I arrived just after they’d finished breakfast, everyone was nice and calm, in fact Lora was relaxing with a cuppa! Minutes later Sarah & Rina arrived, and the morning prep began! There was a little reorganising of furniture, as castles don’t tend to have the largest of windows (or the brightest of lights) but once chairs were positioned close to plug sockets and windows it was all systems go.  Sarah & Rina worked perfectly together and not only was everyone ready on time, they looked absolutely stunning.

The Great Hall at Peckforton Castle is an impressive sight when it’s empty – but it’s even more impressive when dressed. Ian Lloyd did an outstanding job with the flowers, the bouquets were absolutely gorgeous as were the table centres and the flower arch! After a lovely ceremony Lora & Dave had a quiet stroll around the grounds while I snapped a few photos of just the two of them. We then spent a bit of time doing the formal group shots on the lawn, while Derek Gustard worked his magic keeping everyone entertained.  While inside the string quartet “Carlton Ensemble” provided lovely music, playing classical versions of modern songs.

After a delicious wedding breakfast (and I can say that because I was treated to exactly the same meal) it was time for the speeches.  Their Toast Master Stephen Sanders eloquently introduced the speeches, but more than that, he did an amazing job of making sure everything ran like clockwork all day.  Now, by the time the speeches came around I’d already overheard a few people saying they were nervous about one of the Best Men’s speech. Turns out, they had no need to be…  All the speeches were really good and more importantly, the Best Men didn’t reveal too many embarrassing stories!

Lora & Dave’s wedding cake (made by Champagne Cakes) was causing quite a stir. On top of multiple tiers of cupcakes, stood a single tier cake and on top of that were miniature models of Lora & Dave.  The models not only looked just like them, but also had Dave in shorts.  I quickly learnt that he always wears shorts, in fact more than one guest said “I’m surprised he’s not in shorts today!”.  Using a knife to cut your cake at a castle wedding just isn’t right – so you use a sword!

After carefully avoiding their miniature selves with the sword, it was straight into the first dance and the party!  Their live band Supercharged kicked it up a gear and got the crowd up and dancing – including Lora’s Dad, who I must say had some killer moves… Sorry, I mean one killer move but he used it well 😉

I had a lot fun photographing their Peckforton Castle wedding.  So I’d like to say a massive congratulations and thank you to Lora & Dave!  You’re a lovely couple, and along with all your guests you made me feel truly welcome and part of your day.

Here’s a few of my favourite photos…
