Wedding Party at Llyn Gwynant Barns

Llyn Gwynant Barns, Llyn Gwynant lake and the Nant Gwynant valley on a cloudy day.

Llyn Gwynant Barns is the ideal wedding venue for anyone who loves nature and the outdoors. Situated in the Nant Gwynant valley, with Snowdon on one side and Llyn Gwynant lake directly in front, the scenery is epic.

On a clear sunny day, it’s a spectacular place, but the clouds are what make this place, (and much of Wales to be honest) so magical. They create a sense of mystery and atmosphere that you just don’t get on a sunny day. North Wales doesn’t feel like North Wales without clouds!

Wedding Party Photography

Emily & Andrew actually got married a couple of weeks ago, when they had a small intimate registry office wedding. So they hired me to photograph their wedding party! Which some might say is the best bit of a wedding.

I arrived through the clouds in the afternoon to find everyone calm and in great spirits. Andrew was still in his tracksuit, Emily still in a black maxi dress. If it wasn’t for Emily’s hair and make-up you wouldn’t have known anything special was about to happen.

The Barns on the other hand told a different story! They were looking awesome and very wedding-like!

Quick as a flash Emily was in her dress and Andrew was suited and looking sharp. We decided to do a few formal-ish group photos before welcome drinks and the wedding breakfast.

This was a wedding party full of surprises. Andrew wasn’t planning on making a speech – public speaking isn’t his thing. But he surprised everyone by kicking off the speeches. And he delivered a great speech – off the cuff and clearly straight from the heart. I don’t know what he was worried about 😉

In fact, all the speeches were superb. Emily had written one of the best poems I’ve ever heard about their story together and thanking everyone.

Then, one of the waiters fell over creating quite a scene! Turns out Emily’s Mum had hired singing waiters but hadn’t told anyone! Absolutely priceless reactions all over the place!

This last surprise of the night was the gender reveal of their baby due in November. Neither Emily nor Andrew knew the sex so this was another surprise for everyone.

Then it was party time! The Rush were top-notch and got everyone involved, dancing and singing along.

Congratulations & Thank Yous

Massive Congratulations to Emily & Andrew! You two are ace! Thank you for making me feel so welcome and throwing such an awesome party.
