A Truly Unique Country Wedding
As far as English country wedding venues go, they don’t get more authentic and original than Huntstile Organic Farm. Set in the ancient hills of Somerset it brings a truly unique and vintage feel to the romance of a wedding day and love’s greatest celebration.
Wedding Photography at Huntstile Farm
I was lucky enough to be chosen as the wedding photographer for Ffion and Alan’s magical day. It’s always an honour to document a wedding day, and this was no exception. Wedding photography at Huntstile Organic Farm is an absolute dream and I can’t wait to return to photograph more weddings here. It was the perfect setting for Ffion and Alan and suited their personalities much more than a more conventional wedding venue.
Unique Farm Wedding Photography
Every couple has their own completely unique love story, one that is irreplicable, something that only they can show. Ffion and Alan had such a wonderful glow to them, a partnership that was adventurous, theatrical and full of laughter. My job as their wedding photographer was to capture their essence, the moments shared between them and the atmosphere of their magical day at Huntstile Organic Farm.
Ffion and Alan made it so easy to capture these moments. They made me feel so immediately welcome. They have a warmth to them which is so easy to be around.
My wedding photography is very naturalistic, unposed and I capture the movement of the day. One of the most important things to be able to do as wedding photographers is to be able to blend in, to move around the venue and between the guests like one of them – and that’s made so much easier when you’re welcomed in like one of the family.
Personal Touches at Somerset Farm Wedding Venue
The fantastic couple both work in the circus arts, and have many thespian and creative friends which made for a wedding full of unique touches. Everything about this Huntstile farm wedding was just so personal to the couple; their nearest and dearest decorated the marquee, created flower arches, played the harp, made their cake and even put on an aerial trapeze performance. They really did some great work, and it means that the wedding photographs will be even more special and will become even more sentimental as the years go by.
Tractor Ride to an Outdoor Wedding Ceremony
The weather was perfect for an outdoor farm wedding, huge fluffy clouds drifted across the blue sky, creating amazing light with the sun bursting through at perfect moments. Stepping away from the confines of a church or conventional wedding venue, this fantastic pair broke a lot of traditions with their amazing hillside wedding ceremony. We all piled into a huge trailer – with hay bales as seats. Guests giggling with excitement as we were taken to the Stone Circle at the top of a hill on Huntstile Organic Farm for the outdoor wedding.
A close friend, Tom conducted the ceremony, which added to the already very personal and intimate nature of their wedding day. I particularly enjoyed discovering that the couple had met at a theatrical production of Romeo & Juliet, sharing their first kiss backstage during Tom’s death scene – something that he had not long found out himself!
The Spectacular Backdrop of Huntstile Organic Farm
The view was breathtaking, a vast blanket of rolling countryside lay before us as Ffion and Alan spoke their vows to each other. Their friends and family were smiling from ear to ear as the lovely couple shared their most intimate and loving words with each other.
I’ll always remember the moment Ffion appeared from the woods, arm in arm with her Dad and made her way down the aisle. Alan’s face filled with love, welling up with emotion as Ffion walked towards him on the hill, looking beautiful in her stunning vintage dress.
Instead of both exchanging rings, Ffion gave Alan a beautiful watch. I love that he’ll always be reminded of this special day together whenever he checks the time… and whenever they look at their wedding photos, of course!
The Relaxed Atmosphere of an Organic Farm Wedding Venue
The atmosphere was incredible, Ffion and Alan’s guests were all so delighted to see each other, there was a lot of love shared at this Huntstile Farm wedding. To be able to freeze a moment in time, that is so filled with emotion that those in the images will always remember exactly how they felt, that’s what’s important to me as a wedding photographer.
Wedding Reception at Huntstile Farm
After the outdoor ceremony, we all descended on the garden room marquee at Huntstile Organic Farm for the reception, food and speeches. The room was stunning, with white drapes on the ceiling and lovely views over the rest of the farm. As a wedding photographer, the speeches are such an important part of the day to capture. Again, steering away from traditional speech formats the happy couple had a friend as a hilarious compère, who introduced everyone and was very funny indeed.
A Non-Traditional Organic Farm Wedding
The father of the bride managed to track down a message from one of Ffion’s favourite teachers – a gesture that clearly meant so much to her. Alan’s mother spoke and wove some hilarity into an exceptionally touching speech which had guests simultaneously giggling and welling up with emotion at the stories about the groom. These moments make for amazing wedding photographs, the raw emotion of the day is immortalised and can be remembered in a felt sense whenever anyone looks at these images.
A Romantic Stroll for the Married Couple at Huntstile Farm
Ffion, Alan and I went for a stroll around the stunning Huntstile Farm. Just for the couple to spend a bit of time together on their wedding day, while allowing me to take some lovely, natural and unposed couple photos of them as they reflected in their special day.
Circus Inspired Wedding Entertainment
We got back just in time for the amazing trapeze display in the courtyard of Huntstile Farm, put on by two of Alan’s previous students. This is something I’ve never seen at a wedding before and if the gasps from the crowd were anything to go by, it’s something that will never be forgotten by their guests! It was so much fun and loved by the everyone. The dusky light perfectly led us into the first dance…
Their band was so cool and played two mash-up sets for the wedding party which had all their loved ones on the dance floor, laughing at each other’s moves – all encouraged by the bottles of Somerset cider that Huntstile Organic Farm provided earlier that afternoon.
A Dazzling Wedding Day at Huntstile Organic Farm
Ffion and Alan’s magical wedding at Huntstile Organic farm was breathtaking from start to finish. I felt so welcomed by them and their guests, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the day was woven with so many unique moments that told their love story so perfectly. I loved every moment of it and their personalities come through so beautifully in these wedding photographs. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of their wedding day.
So, here’s to Ffion & Alan! Cheers! Also, a massive shout out and thank you to everyone who helped to make their day so special.
