Imagine getting married in a 10-acre valley with 2 rivers, surrounded by cliffs, bridges, lawns and the most gorgeous Riverside House… If that sounds good, Gisburne Park could be the wedding venue for you!
The Riverside House is licensed to hold civil ceremonies or you could have an outdoor blessing beneath a tipi in the upstream woodland.
It’s an exclusive use wedding venue, and there’s accommodation for more than 220 people on-site in comfortable cottages, luxury lodges and of course glamping tents.
Riverside Outdoor Tipi Wedding
Leanne & Jack had a bumpy ride to get here. I think they were on their 5th date and 3rd venue, but my God was it worth it! Leanne and her bridal party got ready in the stylishly decorated Riverside House. The morning was relaxed and everything went according to plan.
A short walk up the river from the Riverside House is the “upstream woodland”. This is where Leanne & Jack would be getting married. You have a couple of choices, you can have a naked tipi, just the poles which looks really cool, or a fully dressed tipi. As the weather forecast had been predicting an 80% chance of rain, they opted for a normal tipi. I can’t say I blame them!
After a beautiful ceremony, with some rather emotional vows, Leanne & Jack led the way to what I like to call the Party Tipis. It’s a gorgeous walk over the bridge and down the other side of the river, all lit with festoon lighting.
We had plenty of time before everyone sat down for the BBQ, so we did a few relaxed portraits, some group photos, relaxed, laughed, drank and celebrated in the sunshine.
Leanne & Jack didn’t want to have a first dance, instead, they wanted to have a private first dance later but planned to get everyone on the dancefloor to get the party started. Which worked, but it didn’t take long for them to get pushed into the middle of the dancefloor 😂. We still snuck off with a portable speaker once the sun had set for an intimate first dance on the bridge.
It’s so good to be able to have dancing again! The dance floor was busy all night, but when their surprise sax jumped onto the dance floor the whole place erupted!
