Tower Hill Barns Wedding Photography

Tower Hill Barns is a luxury wedding venue set in the gorgeous North Wales countryside. I’ve been a wedding photographer for 8 years and I’m only based in Rhos on Sea, but somehow this was my first time photographing a wedding Tower Hill Barns! I had always heard really good things about it, but still I was very impressed. It’s a great place to celebrate your wedding day.

  1. Can you tell everyone a little about yourself?
We are from small neighbouring towns in North Wales. We met as babies and can’t actually remember meeting! David and myself went on family holidays as children (he’s my maid of honours cousin) and I think that’s where our relationship started to form. We’ve been together 8 years now. We live in a house together in Penmaenmawr and live with our dog Maggie.
  2. What about the proposal?
David proposed to me in Kenya while we were on Safari. David asked me to pose for a photograph and told me to look in to the camera and strike a funny pose. When I turned around he was on one knee and had filmed the whole thing! It was a total shock to me!!
  3. How long did you spend planning your wedding?
Once we had got engaged we had 3 months of travelling ahead of us so we didn’t get planning until we came home. In total we were planning the wedding for about 2 and a half years.
  1. What were you most looking forward to about your wedding?
We were most looking forward to having our closest friends and family all together to celebrate, all dressed up and in good spirits! That’s the best thing about  any wedding, everyone is in a great mood!
  2. Did you have a specific theme for your day?
We wanted a relaxed wedding to fit our relaxed personalities and way of life. We aren’t ones for stress. We decided to go for a sage green and white colour palette because green is my favourite colour and David wasn’t particularly bothered haha!
  3. Where did you find inspiration when planning your wedding?
Pinterest! So many good inspiration photos on there! I had numerous boards set up for hair, dress, theme etc, it was great!
  1. Did you enjoy the planning process?
We loved the planning process, it was nice to be able to plan together and bounce ideas off of each other. If I was to do it again I  definitely would have listened to myself instead of taking other peoples opinions on board! I think this would have made our wedding more personal.
  1. Where did you get ready?
We got ready in Tower Hill Barns as they have a bridal prep area, I was with my bridesmaids, my mum and mother in law. I felt so calm all morning until I went downstairs and saw it all being set up, then I blubbed!
  2. How did you feel when you saw each other for the first time?
As soon as I saw David at the end of the aisle I knew it was all going to be okay, he looked amazing in his suit and I think I saw a tear in his eye! David says I looked the most beautiful he’d ever seen!
  3. Was there any part of the day you were particularly nervous about?
I was incredibly calm the whole time, I put it down to my laid back nature and David says he was pretty calm the whole time too! I honestly, didn’t feel as nervous as I thought I would which helped a lot with the getting ready process! After the ceremony we both relaxed fully and started to enjoy the day!
  4. What was your favourite part of your big day?
The whole day was our favourite part, there is no stand out moment. It was everything we wanted and more!
  1. How did you choose your wedding venue?
We googled “Barn wedding venues in North Wales” and a few locations came up. We came across Tower Hill Barns and as soon as we saw the photos we knew we had to book a viewing. We absolutely fell in love with the place! We went to a couple of other venues but nothing compared to Tower Hill Barns so we booked there!
  2. What advice would you give to couples looking for a wedding venue?
Go for somewhere that is going to match your wedding style!
  1. What was your biggest worry or concern when choosing a photographer?
We didn’t want hours and hours of photos being taken, we wanted a few posed pictures and for the rest we wanted candid, documentary style photos.
  2. What advice would you give to couples who are looking for a photographer?
Do your research in to what type of photography style most suits you and then search and ask around for photographers who use that style. This way you know exactly what you’re getting and you can work more closely with your photographer to get the mnost perfect photos.
  3. What was the best thing you spent money on for your wedding?
The best thing we spent money on was our cake table. As we had guests with many different dietary requirements we found this to be the best way to give everyone a little sweet treat and it must have been amazing as we didn’t get a look in!
  4. Would you like to give a shout out to anyone in particular?
The staff at Tower Hill Barns were absolutely amazing! They made our day extra special by going the extra mile for us. Honestly an amazing venue. And we would like to give you a shout out too Chris, thank you for being so patient and understanding when 4 posed pictures turned in to what felt like hundreds! Your photography style is everything we wanted and we really vibed with you as a person! Absolutely amazing!
  1. And finally… Any words of wedding planning wisdom?
Don’t try and please everyone and don’t listen too much to other people’s opinions! Make sure it’s what you want and it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks!

Tower Hill Barns Dressing Room

The dressing room at Tower Hill Barns is a really well thought out and designed space. It’s flooded with natural light, it has a sofa, a sink, a fridge and two hair / makeup stations with plenty of plug sockets.

Wedding Ceremony at Tower Hill Barns

With options for an indoor or outdoor ceremony Tower Hill Barns makes a great choice for those who like the idea of an outdoor ceremony but don’t necessarily trust the North Wales weather!

The outdoor ceremony area, under an old railway bridge, is secluded and perfectly in-keeping with Tower Hill Barns luxurious rustic style. Your guests will sit under an oak framed gazebo, surrounded by sloping wildflower meadows.

The Old Barn is the indoor ceremony option, it’s an intimate and romantic space, capable of seating up to 120 guests and is ideal for a perfect candle lit ceremony.

Drinks, Speeches & Wedding Breakfast

I think one of the most impressive things about Tower Hill Barns is the thought that has gone blending the indoor and outdoor spaces. The bar area is flooded with natural light from sky lights and large bi-fold doors – it’s a perfect space for celebrating your new marriage and having a drink in the sunshine.

The oak framed dining hall, surrounded by floor to ceiling windows also features a cosy mezzanine floor with a sofa.

Exclusive Use + Accommodation

Since becoming a Wedding Photographer and visiting wedding venues all around North Wales (and the UK) I’ve developed quite a long tick list for wedding venues. Being “Exclusive Use” is high up on that list. And having accommodation is not far behind! Being able to fall into a comfy bed is just what you need after getting married and partying the night away.

Tower Hill Barns is exclusive use, and they can accommodate up to 18 guests in the Farm House, with space for extra guests in their “Glamping Lodges”.

Congratulations & Thank Yous

I’d like to wish Alys & David a massive, massive congratulations! Thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your wedding. I had a great time hanging out with you both ?

Also, a big shout out to all the other suppliers involved in making your big day so perfect.
