Matthew & Alex got married at the stunning Aikwood Tower, on the Scottish Borders. Aikwood Tower is a historic, 16th century, Grade A listed building, exclusive use luxurious country house and wedding venue. It has five en-suite bedrooms, a cosy living room with open fire, a gallery level above the hall and gorgeous gardens.
Matthew & Alex found me through Matthew’s best man who was a guest at another wedding I photographed – thanks Jo & Tom 😉. And I had a great time hanging out with them all. Their wedding was a lovely intimate celebration surrounded by friends, family, and plenty of Prosecco!
I met Alex and her bridal party at the hairdressers in the morning for hair & make-up. We then headed back to Aikwood Tower to finish off getting ready. After a rather beautiful ceremony, we headed out into the sunshine for drinks & canapés.
However, as it was November, in Scotland, it was a little chilly! So while everyone else headed through to take their seats ready for the wedding breakfast, Alex & Matthew headed upstairs to warm up by the fire and have a quiet minute to themselves (obviously I tagged along 😬).
After one of the most delicious wedding meals I’ve ever had everyone gathered around for the speeches. It was then time for the first dance and party! Here’s a little sneak preview of things to come…
