Congratulations Lucy & Nick!
The day Nick contacted me was the same day Lucy’s Mum got in touch (I don’t think she believed Nick when he said he was going to message me) so it was a bit of a weird conversation, not only because I’d already had a very similar conversation that morning, but because it took me a while to work out that I already knew Lucy, her Dad and her Mum! I dated Lucy’s cousin back when I was at school, so actually knew a good portion of her family – although I hadn’t really seen them since I left school.
Normally when I photograph a wedding, I don’t know anyone and I’ve only met the couple once or twice. So, it was lovely to document a wedding with so many familiar faces. Even avid followers of my work may spot some people they recognise. I photographed Gemma & Andy’s wedding back last year and Andy was one of Nick’s Ushers. Due to the intimate way I photograph, I normally leave a wedding feeling like I’ve known everyone for years but I genuinely had a connection to these guys – so that was really nice. Lucy and Nick are a lovely couple and are both surrounded by awesome friends and amazing family.
I arrived at Lucy’s parents house in the morning, everyone was super excited and ready to get started! Lucy’s hair was done by her Auntie and her make-up by her Cousin – who also prepared an awesome wedding playlist. It always makes the day so much more personal when you can get friends or family involved and it was a proper team effort.
Lucy & Nick had their ceremony at St John’s Church in Warminster, and then after a few formal group shots headed off to Wick Farm for the reception. Wick Farm is a beautiful barn conversion just off the A36 on the way to Bath. The weather wasn’t anywhere as nice as it had been earlier in the week, but it certainly didn’t stop the fun. There’s a lovely outside area with large umbrellas over looking the lake and plenty of space inside. And in all honesty, it didn’t rain that much as you can see from the photos.
There were plenty of laughs in the speeches. Nick’s best man (despite being super nervous) absolutely killed it. Lucy & Nick’s wedding cake (made by a family friend) had miniature models of them on the top and Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the lower tiers. Their band, Anthem were awesome and absolutely rocked it.
